190 front brake pad recommendations
Hi all,
Just noticed today that my front brake pads are already very low. probably got about 4mm left. Very surprised as I'd only just fit the last set of pads last year ( i think around summer time), surely they shouldn't have run that low already. they're the yellow stuff pads, and I have drilled and grooved discs. Probably only got about 15000 miles out of them at most. So won't be getting the same pads again otherwise I'll end up replacing them again in a years time. What other pads are there that anyone can recommend? Something that gives off little brake dust as possible please, as my last set gave out ridiculous amounts, would turn up at meets after around an hour or so driving with the front wheels caked in brake dust. Cheers, Rick |

EBC pads are generally rubbish.
Can't comment on dust specifically, but always had good experience with the Black Diamond Predator pads Motobuild sell (but available cheaper elsewhere). |

Hi, I've recently had to fit new discs and pads to the rear of my 190. I used EBC discs and their "yellow stuff" pads. I'll be swapping the fronts soon.
EBC make a range of pads to suit different scenarios. They are not the cheapest but I chose them after a bit of research. https://ebcbrakesdirect.com

The yellow stuff pads I currently have fitted all round had been good, braking felt good and the pads didn't give off much brake dust. But the fronts have only lasted around a year, which is very poor. Considering my dad's 75 we've owned for 5 years. done about 60-65k in it over that period and haven't had to change the pads yet. |

Brake pads
Hi Ric,
I will shortly be fitting a 190 conversion to my 180 and have bought ATE pads all round on the recommendation of Nick Bonthrone of Austin Garages, who is about as knowledgeable as anyone about our cars. He said they were the original factory fit, but I can't yet say how they're going to be for dust. By the way, any likely progress soon with my blind printing? Crispin |
