ok here's the pics I promised. Looks ok at the distance, and I really can't fault it under that light, it looked good until you get your nose down on it.

When I first saw it I was overjoyed to be honest, it was close inspection later that ruined my mood (well that and my ICE fitting incompetence).

This was the sight that first greeted me as I walked in - he'd polished the whole car too:

This one shows the rear bumper that was resprayed

The rear nearside wing was resprayed due to being keyed by some oik also, but that's not clear on this pic.

This one shows the rear offside door, which had a huge chip and a ding, and the work that was done on the wheel arch and the rear nearside wing, where it had been scraped:

I won't rub my own nose in it further by putting in close ups of what upsets me. This job, for the price I paid will stop the damage I had shouting at me any more. I must learn to be a bit more sensible about the difference between good and perfect.

It looks perfect in the photos Tony but then again a photo can hide a lot.

I would definately consider taking it back and pointing out the issues you've noticed when you got home. It may just be genuine that they didnt notice like yourself under their artificial light where you've taken the photos. The worst they can do is turn you away

May well do Rick. It will be interesting to see what you say when you see it in real life tomorrow Like I say, I can't deal with a load of hassle at the moment so I have little appetite for it. Making do may not be what many would do, but without wishing to sound overly dramatic, I have my health to think of.

I think I can be happy with this, and I haven't given it my own special brand of polishing yet. Come the spring, i suspect I will not be worrying one jot about it.

I wouldn't have had any paintwork done there, A paraffin heater, a wet floor to kill the dust and loads of things around to catch dust. If the spray booth was a chamber, it still has the particles from the heater floating around. This is a Fred in a Shed job...

Saga Lout - unfortunately you are right I think. Unfortunately, experience appears to definitely have proven to be a collection of mistakes in this case.

Stubie - I'm trying to be pragmatic, its better than it was, yes you are right. Thank you

i work like a washing machine with my issues - fast rinse and tumble cycle now over. Drama's over. This will be fine, I didn't pay top dollar, hence I've got a job that reflects that - and sufficient for my needs is what i name this work.

These 2 pics help show how far this car has come, and what the improvement is. For my budget, I call this a success.

And come tomorrow i'm going to DO for that amp cabling install job

Thanks for your visit earlier Tony

After seeing the car in person, it does look fantastic now with the panels repaired and resprayed. You can see a tiny bit of paint that has been spattered but that is really unoticable unless you get right up close to the panel.

I think the main issue is that Tony agreed with the garage to have the passenger door and rear bumper fully resprayed, however in certain light and when up close you can see that they only resprayed the patches which needed doing and not the whole door and rear bumper. That is the issue here with their service. Due to them only spraying patches, when you look closely you can see the newly sprayed patch is lighter than the rest of the panel (as the paint on the rest of the panel has aged and gone darker over years).

It is a massive improvement and being honest the issues raised above are only really noticable if you're looking for it.

I would personally go back to them and point out (nicely) what you're not happy about, especially that they only reprayed patches whereas you asked for panels and see what they say. But the car has still come a long way and once you have your referbed serpents fitted you'll be very happy with it

update. had a chat with the guy today who did the spray, and we came to an amicable agreement. It was flatted before spraying and some areas were missed when he did the polishing out. I will deal with this personally as that is what I want now. Everything else I will accept.

thanks for the advice, particularly Ricksta.
