Changing tyre size
Hi fellas,
The price difference between 215/55/16 and 205/55/16 is staggering. I'm toying with the idea of changing my complete set for the 205's I've checked the rolling radius and it gears the speedo slightly higher than the actual speed which can only be a good thing really What are your thoughts and has anyone done it? Cheers Steve |

Yes I have done it as it was easier to get the 205s and cheaper, the speedo is out by about 5mph according to sat nav

Remember that your insurance company will void your policy if you neglect to tell them though

I thought it was if you change the alloys I.e you make it more desirable etc. |

As you know the 205 s are not stipulated for the 75s so would give the insurance company an 'out' as you have been warned. How much are the 205s anyway? |

Insurance companies know what size tyres are fitted when new, but you'll probably be ok provided you tell them Brian |

205's were fitted to crowns as standard I believe? As our first 75 had them
Insurance companies don't look at anything these days unless your car looks obvious that it's been modded and that the wheels have been changed. When our old 75 was written off it came with Crown alloys sitting on 205's and I swapped them over for Serpents with 225's. They came to check the car and had no issues. Then when they took the car away I had taken the Serpents off and fitted Contour alloys and they never noticed |
