V6 miles from a full tank?
Hi folks,
I've done a search before posting this question. Thought I'd post it anyway as many of the previous posts are quite old. In currently using the V6 for daily driving. I work 7 miles from so does a 14 mile round trip plus shopping etc. The last tank full of Tesco fuel from very empty gave just 293 miles. (Mainly driving round town with the occasional motorway journey) not hard driving etc. Current tank full Im currently looking around the 330/340 miles from looking at the computer. Just wondering if our V6 is more thirsty than usual. It's a 2.0 V6 auto. I don't really drive it hard and treat the throttle like there's an egg under it. Going to work (one town to another on a mix of 30mph and 50 mph roads I'm around 21/22mpg) Thanks Rob |

It's the 16mpg around town that gets you 340 ish out of my 2.5 auto.
No point getting a V6 if you want high MPG

On a good run I can get 26mpg out of my V8 ZTT. With a bit of practice you can get it down to 8mpg. (Been there).

My manual 190 is giving me less mpg than the V8, which I have to say was unexpected. I'm seeing 22 mpg, but she has just passed 140k. I'm hoping to fettle things a bit when I get the time, but she's actually running very well so I'm not in a hurry. Fortunately I don't have a big commute.

My 2 litre v6 always seems to average around 26 mpg in mixed driving. However on long motorway drives comes in about 30 mpg.

I still found it a bit better on fuel than my v6 auto. If stuck in stop start traffic I could see the fuel gauge moving down. Around 300 miles a tank at best in both of them. Was the reason why I went back to a diesel. If the fuel consumption wasn't so heavy then I would have kept that tourer, miss the power of that one, had so much overtaking power. |

I previously owned a R75 2.5 v6 Auto for 6 years during which I did about 22000 miles (55k when I bought it, about 77k when I sold it).
Not daily. Mostly holidays and weekends, so a mix of (often very) short trips and long (100s of miles) trips Overall MPG during my ownership: 28 Best: 36.5 Achieved twice (steady trip Essex to Liverpool, and another from Yorkshire to Essex) Worst: 20 All fill-ups and calculations brim to brim Current R75 2.5 v6 Auto Owned for just over a year and only done about 1300 miles, mostly short runs (due to lockdown), so not really representative Overall: 15 ! Best: 26 (to/at/from holiday in Norfolk - when holidays were allowed!) Worst: 13.7 !! But as others have said, you don't buy a v6 Auto for its economy From 2012 to 2015 I had a R75 1.8 Turbo Manual which was a daily (40 miles round trip commute) and did 35,000 miles in my ownership. Sold it at 118k miles Overall: 34,6 MPG Best: 42.1 (Essex to Liverpool) Worst: 29.7 Always brim to brim |

when I was working more, my 190 manual was my semi-daily driver and this was mainly short runs to the station and the odd longer run so would get about mid 20s to the gallon. I knew if I'd done around 300 miles it was time to fill up.
On a longer run with mostly motorway I know it will do about low 30 to the gallon, and the last long run I did was about 360 miles and did that on a full tank with a bit to spare. My other semi-daily driver is a 2-litre auto Volvo 740 and that I think is actually worse around town than my 2.5L V6. |

How are you determining your consumption; by reading the trip computer or doing a brim-to-brim calculation? Simon
