New Owner of the RHD Moonshine 260
I've wanted a Moonshine really quite badly for some time now and always looked fondly at the character the V8s exude but with the journeys I did I thought it best it remained a dream... Now situations have changed and the chance to own something quite special became possible
But... it wouldn't be an MG if it didn't have some woe involved and I'm currently in battle with the rear locking wheel bolts, unfortunately the rear tyres are in need of replacement So until I can solve this issue I've had to put the sale of my 75 on hold and carry on journeying in the diesel, which whilst noticeably cheaper and comfier, has a distinct lack of V8 rumble |

Yes very nice.
Soak your bolts in wd40 if that fails a bit of local heat. But purhaps not in that order Keep them both.

I assume the locking key and bolts don't work together anymore. This happened to me in the last year and I needed 4 tyres at the time. 2 of the 4 bolts refused to come off at the tyre fitters and they were suggesting drilling them off
However a yellow van came to my rescue in the form of the AA. If you are a member they can remove the problematic locking wheel bolts. The AA man was great and managed it in about 1/2 hour. They have a tool that forms around the bolt and allows them to remove it without the original key. If you are not an AA member then I am sure there must be garages will the same setup Mark |

Thanks all for the advice and comments I think I will try a liberal spray with WD40 and get a powerful impact wrench, failing that I fear they may have to be drilled out. I took it to a local tyre garage but their air gun couldn't shift it. The problem seems to be that the key can lock in sturdily enough but with a 2 metre bar on the brace it's causing the key to slip out and not provide enough force into the key to keep it in the bolt.
Can you remember what level of AA cover you had and where you were when they came to you Mark? I think I've just got standard roadside assistance so I'm not sure they would come to my drive. I tried a Halfords reverse thread removal socket too but the head of the bolt was too deep and the socket was too wide to fit into the bolt holes on the Apexes |

Lovely finish.
But my god, I would be too paranoid to park it anywhere, or a get stonechips etc with that paint. Its so expensive to fix. |

Its the impact guns that cause the problem, the tyre numptys tighten the bolts and lock with a gun thats probably set to 250nm. It takes to long to set a torque wrench plus its not their car is it?

Mate. Be careful with that one. Can't go into detail but I will do you a massive favour. Swap it with my diesel and I will take all the problems off you. I am kind like that, no need to thank me!!!!!! 8-)
Seriously though, what a car. I think that is my favourite 75/zt variant ever. Love it, love it, love it.
