Question Fitting a Sub..

Hi there.

I have sort of inherited a Subwoofer recently and was thinking of fitting it in the Boot of my R75. A Slick SLR-10 with a Slick/Vibe Pack-10 Amp attached.

Don't know much about them, but reports seem reasonable - and I'm not after waking up the street, just a bit more 'oomph'...

Anyway, what I was wanting to know is if anyone else here has fitted a Subwoofer and which was the best route for routing the Cables, etc?

I was thinking of buying this Fitting Kit, (unless someone has one they don't want lying around )... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4006001801...84.m1436.l2649 (Should be adequate).

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated please!!!

Also any tips on the actual settings...?

Oh, the Headunit is a Pioneer DEH-X9500BT.

Thanks.

Thanks again.

Ran the cable from battery round to driver side along the firewall, through the grommet for bonnet cables down underneath the carpet kick plates and into the boot

I used the blank grommet in the bulkhead, for the power, clipped to an empty row of factory installed clips on the bulkhead. Then the remote and power leads tracked below the carpet on the driver's side, with the speaker wires and phono leads down the left. Ideally should have the power and remote leads down one side, phono in the middle, and the speakers' wires down the left. Any combination of this, but keeping the speaker and phono leads separated from the power helps reduce risk of interference.

Got around to fitting the Sub today - seeing as the weather was going to be agreeable!

Took a good three and a half hours - longer than I thought it would take!

I took some photo's along the way.....

Eventually found a route for the cables from the Headunit - took ages as I eventually had to remove the Radio Fascia to do it... A right pain!

Make sure you have some spare trim clips for the plastic kick trim - I broke 2! Luckily I have spares... Removed it to get access to route cables under carpet.

Cables nicely hidden away...

Feeding Cables under back seat and into Boot.

Connected the Live Feed to the Positive Terminal after Mega Fuse for added protection...

Put the Live Feed inside a Convoluted Cable Protector inside the Engine Bay, and along the Firewall, well away from the Engine. I decided not to feed it via the Plenum side because the Windscreen Wiper Mechanism might foul it.

Then fed it through the Inner Firewall and through the same Grommet as the Bonnet Release Cable.

(I think I might have accidentally stumbled of the wires for the driver's side illuminated visor - purple and white ones hiding above the OBD Socket)...

The Positive Feed followed the same route as the other Cables..

I got a good Earth from connecting the Negative Cable to one of the Nuts that hold the Rear Light Cluster on...

And 'Job Done'!

I was just happy that everything worked! Didn't play around too much as I still wanted to give the car a bit of a wash aswell, but a vast improvement - and nicely subtle and full, not 'Boom-Boom'!

Just have to fine-tune it - I'm open to any pointers as to where to have the 'HPF' on the Headunit as well as where to have the Bass Boost, (0db-6db-12db) & Gain, LPF and Subsonic, (0-50hz) on the actual Sub Amp?

Thanks for all the help of the previous posters - it was a real help!!!

I'm happy - I just got a funny look from the Missus though....
